There are numerous exhilarating hikes in the Red Lodge area. These range from easy family walks in the outdoors to serious climbing (see below). Some favorite half-day climbs are beside the Stillwater River, and the Mystic Lake. The Stillwater hike is an easy uphill climb which follows the river, allowing you to watch it rush by in the sunlight as you walk. The path leads to a marvelous still lake where you often see flyfishermen weaving their magic in the air. The Mystic Lake hike takes you to a gravel beach that is perfect for a picnic. You may keep going a few miles to Island Lake, or you can start into the back country for serious backpacking. If you fish, take your fishing rod on either of these hikes.
